Move over pre-made Ranch…enter the healthier version of you! This LowFat Avocado Ranch Dressing has been quite popular on my blog. It’s not surprising though, because who doesn’t love the idea of Ranch dressing made with avocado superfood?!
LowFat Avocado Ranch Dressing
For this recipe, we’ve combined a non-mayo based ranch dressing with good-for-you avocados – it’s a win-win all around!
Traditional Ranch Dressing tends to be mayo-based. If you follow my sneaky techniques with recipes that call for mayo, you know I almost always substitute mayonnaise with nonfat Greek yogurt…and a touch of mayo.
Why do I substitute yogurt for mayo?
Because I want the protein and vitamins I’ll get from a heap of yogurt (in my dip/dressing)…as opposed to the calories, fat, and cholesterol I’d get from a heap of mayonnaise. And I love my mayo btw…but I love fitting into my jeans even more!
So, what happens when we take a homemade, low fat Ranch Dressing and add avocado to it? Ohhhh, we get a whole new level of ranch. It becomes even more rich, creamy, and takes on that slightly nutty flavor that avocado delivers.
We also get a bunch of new ways to use this number:
- salad dressing
- nachos topping
- veggie dip
- sandwich spread
- pasta salad dressing
- French fry dip
A few notes about the ingredients for this dressing:
I recommend using fresh garlic and not substituting garlic powder, if you can. Why? Because truly delicious, homemade Ranch has that very subtle hint of the spice you can only get from fresh garlic. Trust me on this one…you’ll actually have people guessing what it is!

Should I use dried herbs or fresh herbs for this recipe?
You’ll notice I used dried herbs in this recipe, but I love Ranch with fresh herbs too! If you use fresh herbs, double the herbs in this recipe, but don’t be afraid to experiment…it’s forgiving…it’s Ranch, after all.

- nonfat Greek yogurt
- lemon Juice
- white vinegar
- garlic clove
- dried parsley, dried dill, dried chives, and dried onion
- kosher salt and black pepper
- 1% milk
