Why you'll love Greek yogurt ranch
When you can make ranch without mayonnaise or sour cream and not compromise flavor and texture, you win in more ways than one!
- The Greek yogurt base makes it super creamy, tangy, and satisfying.
- Use it like classic ranch for salads and sandwiches, or as a veggie dip.
- Takes 5 minutes to make.
- The nonfat yogurt option offers less fat and fewer calories than whole-milk yogurt.
- Make homemade ranch to save money by using ingredients on hand.
- Offers a healthy, Mediterranean twist to everyone's favorite dressing.
If you enjoy using Greek yogurt in dressings, you’ll love my green goddess dressing. And if you’re craving a creamy avocado twist, my avocado ranch dressing is always a favorite.
Ingredient notes
- Plain Greek Yogurt – This is the base of the dressing; you can use whole-milk or nonfat Greek yogurt. I always use nonfat Greek yogurt, and it still makes the dressing thick and creamy. If you make your own yogurt, my Instant Pot Yogurt works perfectly here.
- Milk – Any kind of milk will do—just a splash helps thin the dressing to your desired consistency.
- White Vinegar – A little vinegar adds tang and brings everything into balance, especially if you’re skipping the mayo.
- Dijon Mustard – Just a touch adds a subtle zip that makes this homemade ranch with Greek yogurt pop.
- Parsley, Chives, and Dill – These herbs give ranch dressing its classic flavor and those little green flecks everyone loves. You can use fresh or dried, whatever you have.
- Onion Powder – Easy to blend in, and it adds that familiar savory flavor without messing with the texture.
- Fresh Garlic – A small amount goes a long way toward deepening the flavor and making it taste like real ranch.
- Salt and Pepper – A pinch of each brings everything together. Don’t skip these!

How to make ranch with Greek yogurt
If you’ve never made homemade ranch with Greek yogurt before, you’re in for a treat—it’s seriously quick and easy. These step-by-step photos walk you through it, and there’s a printable recipe card further down the page.
In a mixing bowl or storage container, whisk together the Greek yogurt, milk, vinegar, herbs, and seasonings until smooth and creamy. Add more yogurt to thicken or a splash of milk to thin.

Serve it chilled as a healthy ranch dip or dressing, and enjoy every creamy bite. Store your healthy ranch dressing in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5 days. Try my Greek yogurt onion dip too!

Recipe tips
- If you're using nonfat Greek yogurt, it won't be as rich as classic ranch—but I love the lighter flavor. To make it richer, stir in a little whole-milk yogurt, sour cream, mayonnaise, or olive oil.
- You can use fresh herbs or dried spices for this dressing. The recipe includes both options.
- You can use fresh or dried herbs as I listed amounts for each. If using fresh herbs, chop them small—or mix your dressing in a blender for convenience.
- If using dried herbs, let the dressing rest longer to hydrate the spices.
- Adjust consistency – Thicker? Add more yogurt. Thinner? Whisk in a splash of milk.
- The flavors and texture will develop even further as the ranch dressing rests in the refrigerator.
