Why You'll Love This Recipe
- It’s made with real strawberries and creamy Greek yogurt for a naturally fruity flavor.
- You only need four ingredients and a food processor—no fancy equipment or ice cream maker required.
- You can serve it soft straight from the blender or freeze it for scoops later.
- It’s easy to customize with other fruits or fun mix-ins for a homemade froyo that’s better than store-bought.
Ingredients
- Strawberries: Fresh or frozen work equally well. Frozen berries make a thicker soft-serve texture right away, while fresh berries need more chilling time.
- Greek Yogurt: Adds creaminess and tang, balancing the sweetness of the berries. Any fat level works, but whole milk yogurt gives a richer texture.
- Vanilla Extract: Enhances the strawberry flavor, making the yogurt taste more like ice cream.
- Honey (Optional): Sweetens naturally. Depending on the ripeness of your berries, you may not need any at all.
How To Make Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
Process the Strawberries: Add STRAWBERRIES to your food processor or blender. If frozen, pulse until the berries break down into fine, icy crumbles. If using fresh strawberries, blend until smooth.

Add Yogurt and Vanilla: Spoon in the GREEK YOGURT and pour in the VANILLA. Blend until creamy, stopping to scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula as needed. Sweeten to Taste: Taste the mixture and add HONEY a little at a time, blending again until you reach your desired sweetness.

Chill or Serve: For soft-serve texture, enjoy immediately. For scoopable frozen yogurt, transfer the mixture to a freezer-safe container, cover, and freeze for about 8 hours. Let it sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes before scooping.

There is nothing more satisfying that sharing homemade strawberry froyo with friends and family on a warm day, especially when it's secretly healthy.

Test Kitchen Tips
- Use fresh or frozen fruit: Both give great results. Frozen strawberries make a thicker soft-serve right away, while fresh strawberries need more time to firm up in the freezer.
- Blender or food processor: Any standard model will do the job. You don’t need a high-speed machine—just pulse and scrape the sides as needed until smooth and creamy.
- Yogurt variety: Greek yogurt makes the frozen yogurt thicker and tangier, while regular yogurt gives a softer, lighter texture. Whole milk yogurt gives the richest flavor, but nonfat Greek yogurt works beautifully too.
- For a creamier texture: Add a splash of cream for extra richness, but go easy or it will turn more like ice cream.
- Taste before freezing: Strawberries can vary in sweetness. If the mixture tastes too tart, add honey or maple syrup to balance it out.
- Mix-in ideas: Swirl in crushed graham crackers, mini chocolate chips, or chunks of fresh strawberries before freezing for extra flavor.
- Try other fruits: Blueberries, peaches, mangoes, or raspberries can be swapped in. Adjust sweetener as needed since some fruits are naturally less sweet.

Kechi says
OMG!!! I can eat this entire bowl by myself! I love how it looks so tasty and yet healthy! I have everything except the Greek yogurt; the yogurt I currently have isn’t Greek yogurt, would it still work?
Barbara McGraw says
Question, to measure the 4 cups of berries do you measure whole berries or sliced up? Has anyone actually weighed the amount of Fresh berries they used?
Traci says
Hi Barbara, the sliced strawberries will yield a little more volume, but probably not enough to impact the texture in a noticeable way. However, you can always add more yogurt, if needed, once it's all blended. Thanks and enjoy!!
Vicki says
sounds great, will give it a try asap thankyou
